DTM Camping in April at Schitterhof – Horsepower and Alpine Idyll Combined!
Hello, motorsport enthusiasts and travel enthusiasts!
I am always looking for the best spots for my camping adventures in a camper van. And if these adventures can also be combined with pure motorsport adrenaline, then I am all fired up! That's exactly what I experienced last year at the DTM in April at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg – at Schitterhof Camping. An absolute recommendation that I don't want to keep from you!
Why Schitterhof? My Insider Tip for the DTM in Spielberg
The Red Bull Ring is legendary, no question. But where do you park your beloved camper van to enjoy the spectacle optimally without getting lost in the hustle and bustle? For me, Schitterhof was the perfect solution. Well located, friendly operators, clean modern infrastructure, yet just a stone's throw away from the Ring. This means: After a day full of engine roar and racing fever, you can relax in peace, enjoy good food, and end the evening in front of your bus. This mix of motorsport action and alpine idyll is simply unbeatable!
April, April – Styrian Spring Challenges Clever Campers
Don't be fooled: April in Styria is beautiful, but it has its challenges – especially when traveling with a camper van. I've experienced everything: from sunny hours inviting for a barbecue, to icy cold nights that made my heater run at full blast. "Optimally prepared" is the keyword here, because that's the only way the trip will be comfortably unforgettable.

My Best Tips for Your Camping Van Stay in April at Schitterhof:
Heater is Your Best Friend: Your parking heater is worth gold in April! Before departure, make sure it works flawlessly and that you have enough gas or a fully charged onboard battery. Nothing is more annoying than a cold night. Also, a well-insulated water system to prevent frozen pipes is not a luxury.
Insulation Rocks: Even modern camper vans benefit from additional insulation. I always had my insulation mats for the front and side windows with me. They keep the cold out and the cozy warmth in – and also improve privacy.
Cuddle Blankets & Co.: Don't forget the extra blankets! Even if the bus is heated, it makes evening relaxation much cozier. A hot water bottle before bedtime? Absolute recommendation from me!
The Layering Look Counts – Inside Too: Warm socks and comfortable thermal clothing for the evenings are not a bad idea. Sometimes it's just nicer to turn the heating down a bit and snuggle up warmly instead.
Keep an Eye on Condensation: Temperature differences can cause moisture to accumulate in the bus. Regular, short, and intense airing in the morning and evening helps keep the air fresh and prevent mold formation.
Sanitary Facilities at Schitterhof: And here comes another plus point of Schitterhof: Modern, clean sanitary facilities! Especially when it's chilly outside, you appreciate a hot shower. Pack your toiletry bag and a towel – everything else you'll find on site.
Fresh Grass Instead of Gravel: At Schitterhof, you camp on well-maintained, mowed lawns. This is much more pleasant in spring than dusty gravel and gives this natural flair the finishing touch.

DTM in Spielberg – A Must for Every Fan!
The program at the Red Bull Ring is spectacular every year anew. In addition to the thrilling DTM races, there is always a great supporting program: pit stop challenges, autograph sessions with the drivers, fan zones – everyone gets their money's worth here. Be sure to check out the official DTM website for all details and the exact schedule. The atmosphere is simply unique!
Chalet Comfort as an Alternative? Schitterhof Offers That Too!
I know, not everyone is a hardcore camper. Or maybe you are accompanied by family or friends who prefer a bit more comfort. Schitterhof also has the perfect solution for that: cozy chalets! Here you can enjoy all the comforts of a permanent home, with everything included, without having to forego the proximity to the Ring or the beautiful surroundings. A great option to make everyone happy!

My Conclusion: Schitterhof is the top address for your DTM experience in April with the camper van. Great location, good infrastructure, and the option to either live the full camper life or switch to a chalet. Bundle up warmly, get your bus ready, and experience an unforgettable weekend full of motorsport and Styrian hospitality. I can't wait, maybe to be there again this year!
