Orderly departure on Monday: Schitterhof guests leave the site relaxed and jam-free.

Race over, spirits high – and now? Good news: you don't have to bolt before the chequered flag. Departure from the Schitterhof is relaxed, jam-free and completely unhurried.

Let's be honest: the worst part of race day usually isn't the traffic on the way in, it's the traffic afterwards. You know the drill – the flag drops and everyone charges for the car park, and there you are, stuck. At the Schitterhof it works differently: you can watch the race through to the end, stroll back at your own pace, maybe grab a pizza at MATTEO – and then roll out relaxed. No stress, no scrum.

When is the best time to leave?

In principle you can leave any time on Monday, ideally by around 1:00 pm. There's no fixed check-out like at a hotel – just leave your pitch clean, set out your rubbish bags neatly, done. For chalet guests it's a touch more formal: pop by the check-out team, hand back the key, sorted.

Many guests already head off on Sunday evening, once the biggest wave of traffic has passed. From experience, the first Schitterhof guests roll out roughly an hour after the race ends – well before the big car parks are officially released. That comes down to the proximity of the S36: the Spielberg/Zeltweg Ost on-ramp is only about 800 metres away and acts like a bypass around the entire event traffic.

And on Monday itself? Completely relaxed. No jams, no rush. You can sleep in, have a leisurely breakfast and set off home with no time pressure.

What do I need to do before leaving?

Not much. At check-in you were given coloured rubbish bags (yellow for plastic and cans, blue for general waste). Just set them out clearly visible at your pitch – our team collects them. For paper, glass and the like there are extra containers by the sanitary areas.

If you still need to empty grey water, drain the chemical toilet or top up fresh water: the disposal station in the check-in area is open all day on Monday. All free, all hassle-free. If the ground is wet or muddy, a tow vehicle is on standby – just let the check-out team know or call directly on +43 670 5090460.

Watch the race right to the end and still get away before the big jam – at the Schitterhof it works every time.

How do I avoid traffic on the way home?

Simple: the nearby S36 is your friend. While elsewhere thousands of vehicles crawl along narrow country roads, you're already on the expressway. The Spielberg/Zeltweg Ost on-ramp is practically around the corner – from there it's a quick run towards the A9 (Pyhrn motorway) or on into the Murtal.

On Monday the S36 is usually jam-free at any hour. Even if you only set off around midday, traffic flows freely. Another plus: the site is so centrally located that you can get away quickly in almost any direction – whether towards Graz, Salzburg, Munich or on to Italy.

If you like an early start: heading home on Sunday evening after the race is already an option too. The first guests roll out around 6:00–7:00 pm, depending on when the flag fell. That's often more relaxed than the Monday convoy.
