MotoGP in August at Red Bull Ring – what the 2027 date means for your camping trip

MotoGP returns to the Red Bull Ring from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 August 2027 – the date is confirmed. For you as a camping guest, that means late August: late summer with still-warm days, long evenings and the end of the holidays approaching. Here is what to expect and how to arrive well prepared.

MotoGP will take place in August 2027 in Spielberg, with the race weekend running from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 August. The date is confirmed. We don't know why it falls exactly where it does, and we won't speculate about it.

For your booking this means: if you have already booked, your booking stays as it is. Should anything still change, your booking moves automatically. You don't need to do anything.

Late summer and still long days. At the end of August the days are still long and warm, but the evenings get dark noticeably earlier than in midsummer. After the racing you can still sit outside for a long time, cook in peace and enjoy the evening by your motorhome or tent. As a rough guide for summer in the Aichfeld region: daytime temperatures are often in the mid to high 20s °C, nights often around 10 to 14 °C. This is not a forecast, just summer experience – the weather can turn out differently.

Holidays drawing to a close. At the end of August, summer holidays are coming to an end in many countries. For families the race weekend can be a nice finale to the vacation. Still, allow some extra time on arrival, as it gets busy around Spielberg on race weekends.

Slightly cooler evenings. Compared to midsummer, evenings and nights are noticeably cooler. A light blanket is enough for most guests. Still pack a warm sweater – evenings and nights can cool down noticeably at this altitude.

In summer, sun protection is basic kit. There is little shade on the meadows and grandstands. What helps you through the day:

- High-SPF sunscreen, a hat or cap and sunglasses - Plenty of water and light, airy clothing - A rain jacket or poncho, as short, heavy thunderstorms are possible in summer - A warm sweater for the night - Guy your tent and awning well – it can get gusty in a storm

In a thunderstorm: don't shelter under trees, and follow the instructions of the organiser and the campsite team.

Nothing fundamental – Schitterhof runs as usual. You book your pitch online (from MINI through BASIC and PREMIUM to PREMIUM XL and PREMIUM XXL), check in and enjoy the usual facilities: modern sanitary blocks, hot water and food from MATTEO and MAMAS TACOS. Breakfast and snacks are served from 07:00, the hot kitchen runs from 16:00 to 23:00. Quiet hours begin at 23:00.

Pitches are assigned at check-in (first come, first served); there is no pitch guarantee. The site opens on Wednesday, and the last bookable day is Monday. On event days, check-in and reception are open daily from 08:00 to 22:00.

Pitches with a hookup offer 230 V / 8 A (approx. 1.8 kW) from 100 % green electricity – enough for a cool box, lights and small appliances. In summer, a cool box is worth its weight in gold. Heaters, old fridges and charging electric cars are not allowed; the public charging station at the RingRast petrol station is about 500 m away. Barbecuing with gas and electric is allowed, charcoal and open fires are not.

On Fridays and Saturdays the free supermarket shuttle runs every 30 minutes and stops right in front of the campsite entrance. The address: Spielbergerstraße 12, 8724 Spielberg, about 900 m from the main entrance.

If you want to squeeze in one more taste of summer, warm days and holiday mood, it is a great setting for a race weekend. With the right preparation – sun protection, water, rain gear and a good dose of calm – it will be a relaxed camping experience.
