Formula 1 2027 Calendar: Why There Are No Dates Yet
The official 2027 F1 calendar is still missing – geopolitics, more sprints, and what this means for your camping plans at the Red Bull Ring.

Normally the Formula 1 calendar for 2027 would be official by now – but the FIA is keeping us waiting. Here's why that is, what Liberty Media is planning, and how you can still secure your spot at the Red Bull Ring right now.
Anyone looking for the official 2027 Formula 1 race calendar today is out of luck. The FIA World Council would typically have signed off on the dates ages ago – usually happens between August and October the year before. But 2027 is different: geopolitical uncertainties, particularly around the Iran conflict, mean even the remaining 2026 races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi aren't definitively confirmed yet. Liberty Media says they'll "take their time until autumn." If tensions remain high, Imola, Portimao or Istanbul could step in as last-minute replacement venues.
How Does an [F1](https://www.formula1.com/) Calendar Get Made?
The process is clearly defined: Liberty Media negotiates dates with circuits, informally involves the teams (without giving them decision-making power), and submits a draft. This then goes to the FIA World Council – 26 members who usually rubber-stamp it. Only then is the calendar official. For 2027, things are currently stuck at these preliminary negotiations: as long as it's unclear whether the Middle Eastern Grands Prix will even happen, pinning down the rest of the calendar is tricky. After all, Qatar and Abu Dhabi would normally be scheduled as the season finale – and that shifts the entire logistics chain.
One Thing's Certain: Austria Stays – And More Sprints Are Coming
Despite all the uncertainty, one thing's locked in: the Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring is contractually secured until 2041. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali also confirmed there'll be more sprint weekends from 2027 onwards – "1,000 percent," as he put it. How many races the calendar will include overall remains open; the target of 23 races is still on the table. Which circuits will actually feature, listed alphabetically by country: Abu Dhabi (Yas Marina, until 2030), Australia (Melbourne, until 2037), Austria (Spielberg, until 2041), Azerbaijan (Baku, until 2030), Bahrain (Sakhir, until 2036), Belgium (Spa, until 2031), Brazil (Sao Paulo, until 2030), Canada (Montreal, until 2035), China (Shanghai, until 2030), Great Britain (Silverstone, until 2034), Hungary (Budapest, until 2032), Italy (Monza, until 2031), Japan (Suzuka, until 2029), Mexico (Mexico City, until 2028), Monaco (until 2035), Portugal (Portimao, until 2028), Qatar (Losail, until 2032), Saudi Arabia (Jeddah, until 2030), Singapore (until 2028), Spain (Madrid, until 2035), Turkey (Istanbul, until 2031), and the USA (Austin until 2034, Las Vegas until 2037, Miami until 2041). Which of these will actually race in 2027 will be decided by the FIA World Council – likely in late summer or autumn.
