Camping Austria MotoGP 2027: Red Bull Ring Guide

The MotoGP weekend at the Red Bull Ring takes place in 2027 from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 August – the date is now officially confirmed. If you want to be close to the action, here's everything practical: booking, directions and facilities for a relaxed stay at Schitterhof CAMPING WEISS.

For many fans, camping is part of the package – crawl out of your tent at dawn, stand trackside ten minutes later, and you'll understand why. At the end of August that means still-warm summer days, evenings that cool down a little, and thunderstorms are possible. Here's what you need to know for your MotoGP weekend. If the date changes, your booking moves automatically to the new date – you don't need to do anything.

Schitterhof offers categories from MINI to PREMIUM XXL, sorted by vehicle length and equipment level. MINI is the compact option without electric hook-up. BASIC (approx. 30 m², slightly sloped grass) works for a car with tent, two motorcycles with tent, or a camper up to 6 m — optional electric hook-up available. PREMIUM (approx. 48 m², level ground, electricity included) suits motorhomes up to 7.5 m. Travelling with a car-and-caravan outfit or an extra-long motorhome up to 9 m? PREMIUM XL (approx. 60 m² / 6×10 m) fits. For luxury liners up to 12 m, there's PREMIUM XXL (approx. 78 m² / 6×13 m) — exclusive location, up to ten people. Arriving without your own vehicle? Book the fixed Chalet built from Swiss pine, with two bunk beds (sleeps four), private electricity and access to four VIP bathrooms. Pitches are allocated at check-in (first come, first served); there is no pitch guarantee.

All categories with electricity provide a Schuko socket (230 V / 8 A, approx. 1.8 kW, CEE 7/3) — 100% green electricity, ideal for a cool box, lights and small appliances. Best bring a splash-proof extension lead of around 40 m. Heaters, old fridges and external generators are not permitted. Charging electric cars via the pitch socket is banned for safety reasons — you'll find public charging points at the RingRast petrol station (roughly 500 m away). E-bikes can be charged through the standard sockets without issue. Grilling is by gas or electric; charcoal, open fires and fire bowls are banned.

Booking runs entirely online: choose event → category → set people, nights and options → enter details → pay. The current price for each category shows directly in the form — all options displayed transparently. After payment arrives (SEPA, credit card or other methods offered in the form), you automatically receive a confirmation email with invoice and your QR code for check-in. Only this confirmation makes the booking binding. Children pay no pitch surcharge and are exempt from local tax under 15; they still must be declared for registration purposes. Dogs are also free.

For MotoGP, the minimum stay is two nights. Early departure is possible; unused nights aren't refunded. No deposit — you pay the full amount when booking. Cancellation terms are fairly tiered: from six months before the event you get 100% back; between two and six months, 50% cash or free rebooking as credit; under two months, only free rebooking. Through "My Booking" you can add people or nights, upgrade to a larger category or submit a cancellation request. If the organiser postpones the event or the date changes, your booking automatically moves to the new date; if fully cancelled, you get everything back. Schitterhof sits at Spielbergerstraße 12 in 8724 Spielberg, roughly 900 m from the main Red Bull Ring entrance (GPS: 47.2140879, 14.7775305). During MotoGP, access is signposted with a "black tent on white background" symbol. Arriving by train? Get off at Knittelfeld station (approx. 4 km).

In event week the site opens on Wednesday and the last bookable day is Monday. On event days check-in and reception are staffed daily from 08:00 to 22:00, Saturday included. If you arrive later, the night security lets you in — regular check-in follows from 08:00 the next morning. Just show your QR code on your phone at check-in — you'll receive your wristband, which acts as access for the entire stay and must be worn visibly. Monday departure is flexible, ideally by around 13:00. There's only a formal check-out for Chalet guests; on pitches, a clean site with bin bags correctly placed is enough. The nearby S36 (approx. 800 m, Spielberg/Zeltweg Ost junction) makes for a good departure — Monday mornings are usually no problem. In rain or on a wet meadow, a tow vehicle stands ready (+43 670 5090460).

The central sanitary facilities are modern, separated for men and women, with WCs, showers and washbasins — hot water round the clock (brief interruptions only during cleaning). On event days they are cleaned several times daily. Chalet guests additionally have access to four exclusive VIP bathrooms. Fresh water fill-up, grey water disposal and chemical toilet emptying are free here — you'll find the stations in the check-in area. With PREMIUM, a private chemical toilet is optionally bookable (price in the booking form). Top-quality drinking water is available at taps by check-in and the sanitary buildings, and there are free refill stations for bottles too.

Breakfast and snacks from 07:00, the hot kitchen opens at 16:00 and stays open until 23:00. Two areas: MATTEO (breakfast, pizza & pasta evenings) and MAMAS TACOS (tacos, burritos). Vegetarian dishes on request; you pay by cash or card. On Fridays and Saturdays a free supermarket shuttle runs every 30 minutes, organised by the Red Bull Ring; it stops directly in front of the campsite entrance. Quiet hours start at 23:00.

And the weather? At the end of August, pack sun cream, a hat, light clothing and plenty of drinking water, plus rain and thunderstorm protection and a warm jumper for the evening. As a rough guide for summer in the Aichfeld/Murtal area (late August a little cooler than midsummer): daytime often in the mid to high 20s °C, nights around 10 to 14 °C — not a forecast, not a guarantee.
